Yaidee (Jai-Dáe) was born and raised in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico. She came to the U.S. in 2009, though it wasn’t until 2012 that she discovered her passion for swimming. Her first athletic love was volleyball, but when her high school was forced to end the team due to a lack of players, she gravitated to swimming and softball. Yaidee would go from morning swim practice to class to her softball practice, and then find her way back to the pool at the Madison Boys and Girls club for yet another workout. This grueling scheduling instilled not only discipline and a powerful work ethic, it also improved her school work, as it required constant attention to time management. Yaidee currently swims and studies Exercise Science at Lehman College, and plans to get her masters in Physical Education.
