Sera was born and raised in New York City and started swimming at the age of six, when she began lessons in an after-school program. When she was nine, she joined her first team - the Riverdale Y - before moving over to Asphalt Green's AGUA club team, where she swam for eight years. After becoming a lifeguard at the age of 17 and working with kids in and out of the pool at Camp Hillard in Westchester, her passion for teaching kids grew. Now, at Hunter College, Sera is studying Media and continuing her swimming career on the Hawks' Women's Swim Team. When she is not in the pool, you can find her hiking or running Spartan races and half-marathons.
