Rosie hails from the Dominican Republic and has been living in New York for the past eleven years. As a girl, her competitive passion for sports was focused on volleyball and softball. It wasn't until a trip to a resort in the D.R., when a wave pinned her underwater, that she realized the necessity in learning to swim. Inspired by her brother's talents on his swim team, she began to take swimming as her gym class elective in high school. Rosie quickly went from disliking the pool to swimming twice a day and becoming a lifeguard - all within that same year. In 2014, after two years of working as a lifeguard, she committed to becoming an instructor. When she is not studying Physical Therapy at Hunter College, Rosie is in the water for hours each week passing along this life-saving skill to others.
