Katherine was born and raised in Staten Island, though she notes she's always been a city girl at heart. She started swimming at six-years-old at her local YMCA and started competing at age 12. Ever since, swimming has been her way of life! She was the captain of her high school team at Notre Dame Academy, swam for Wagner Aquatics Club on Staten Island, as well as a summer league. Katherine has also been a lifeguard since the age of 15; has been teaching lessons since she was 18; and over the past two summers has worked for the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds as an instructor and guard at their Staten Island location. She graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a degree in Biology, while also being a member of the New Paltz Women's Swim Team. She hopes to pursue a career in Psychology and combine that with her interest in Asian studies and travel in the future!
