Born in Puerto Rico and raised in the South Bronx, Angel discovered his love for swimming at the age of six while attending The Boys Club of New York. When he was twelve, he joined The Boys Club’s Harriman Hawks swim team, where swimming soon became a way of life. Angel continued his aquatics journey as New York City Lifeguard, using the money he earned over summers to help fund his education. In 2015, he graduated from LaGuardia Community College with his Associates in Business Administration. Angel soon discovered his joy for teaching as a swim instructor for Park Slope Collegiate Middle and High school and in 2017 he returned to the Boys Club’s Harriman Clubhouse where he first learned to swim, coming full circle and serving as both an instructor and coach for their program. In addition to swimming, Angel's guiding passion is music, and in true Imagine style, he frequently seeks to blend the worlds of music and water together in his classes.
